The Alentejo promises unforgettable landscapes and experiences in each of its fascinating corner. If you want to enjoy nature, venture along pedestrian rails and mountain bike rides over hills, valleys and creeks. The São Mamede Park is the highest location in the Alentejo, with an altitude of 1025 meters. Explore its 56,000 hectares by following the five routes indicated on site.

The surrounding reservoirs, Caia, Montargil, Maranhão, Divor, are another great way of exploring nature and practising sports like water skiing, rowing, sailing, canoeing, or simply swimming. At Cabeço de Vide, switch water for air and fly to Évora in a hot air balloon. If you are still not satisfied, you can try a parachute jump from 3,000 feet, at the Évora aerodrome.

For those who love to spend late afternoon by the sea, there are plenty of beaches to discover from Zambujeira do Mar to Tróia. In early August, the Sudoeste Festival in Zambujeira do Mar, and in the end of July, the Músicas do Mundo Festival (World Music) in Sines will delight music lovers who cannot bear a summer away without the sea. For surf lovers, the São Torpes beach is a great spot for surfing.

The Alentejo does not just have breathtaking landscapes; it is also a region full of flavors, crafts and legacies of the past. The main tourist attractions are the two UNESCO World Heritage cities, Évora and Elvas, as well as Alqueva, Monsaraz, Marvão, Castelo de Vide, Vila Viçosa and the Alentejo Coast, also known as the Vicentina Coast with unforgettable places such as Sines, Tróia and Vila Nova de Milfontes.
