The Centre of Portugal is a region of contrasts, offering the best of the sea and the mountains as well as a unique cultural heritage. It is the perfect junction between the hills and the fresh fields in the North and the warm plains in the South, the modernity of the cities such as Coimbra and Aveiro and the tradition of Guarda and Castelo Branco.

Get lost in the historical villages within the country, in the Aldeias do Xisto for example, and visit the medieval village of Óbidos. From the Sanctuary of Fátima to the large and dense Leiria pinewood forest and the Contemporary Art Centre (Marinha Grande) one thing is for sure: there is something for everybody to explore and be enchanted with!

During the winter, take a walk on the mountains, in particular Serra da Estrela, Serra da Lousã or Serra do Caramulo, which are perfect to spend a weekend in the snow.

On the coast, you can visit fascinating museums and monuments. Enjoy the amazing sea based gastronomy, places full of history and some of the best surf spots in the world, from the perfect waves in Peniche to the giant swell in Nazaré. Nature lovers cannot miss the Ria de Aveiro and its incredible biodiversity.

Located in the midst of the Mata de Lavos, the campsite is 400 m from a magnificent beach. It has three shower blocks as well as a swimming-pool and bungalows. The wide beach of Figueira da Foz and the city of Coimbra, packed with monuments and history are both worth a visit. The Serra da Boa Viagem is a nature reserve and paradise for nature-lovers. Conímbriga also offers you the chance to visit the beautiful 1st century AD Roman remains.

Located on a peninsula between the sea and the river, this is a typical campsite in the midst of nature in a pine wood. It is a quiet place where you can enjoy your hard-earned holidays. The campsite has two shower blocks, bungalows and commercial services; one can swim in the sea, only 20 minutes’ walk away, or in the river, which is just opposite and offers good conditions for water-sports. A campsite located 2 km from Nazaré, in the upper part of this fishing village. Being in a beautiful pine wood gives plentiful shade. It has 300 electricity points, three shower blocks, bungalows and commercial services. We suggest you attend one of the exhibitions of traditional local dance, considered among the best in Portugal. You should also visit the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, built on the top of the promontory. The ride up by funicular railway is highly rated and the beach is wonderful.

Foz do Arelho, 8 km from the city of Caldas da Rainha, is bordered to the north by the Atlantic and to the south by Lagoa de Óbidos. The campsite is located in the tourist area of western Portugal, in the midst of nature and with beautiful iodized beaches of fine golden sand. It has commercial services, a swimming-pool and holiday and weekend accommodation. The region is rich in interesting places. You can visit its historical heritage, which includes the thermal hospital, churches, chapels and museums, see its traditional ceramic-ware or the beautiful landscapes of the beaches in Foz do Arelho and Salir do Porto. You can also play sports on Lagoa de Óbidos, the largest and most enchanting lake on the Portuguese coast, or go trekking in Paúl de Tornada, the nature reserve on Berlenga island - the only marine reserve in the country, in the Serra do Socorro or in the Serra de Montejunto Natural Park.

An urban campsite, although located in a pine forest 500 m from the Ria de Costa Nova, 2 km from Vagueira, 8 km from Costa Nova, Vagos and 16 km from Aveiro and Ílhavo, that offers relaxing holidays. The nearest beaches are those of Vagueira and Areão, 2 km away, rich in natural attractions and which offer the chance of watching wild grey herons while you lie in the sun. These beaches are also widely appreciated by surfers and bodyboarders. You must not miss the Xávega Art, the region’s traditional fishing and, in Vagos, we recommend a visit to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Vagos and the chapels of Senhora da Misericórdia and Santo António. The area’s excellent gastronomy is another reason for a visit.

A campsite placed in extraordinary surroundings, in a small spa town on the Costa de Prata, which is often visited by inhabitants of the central-interior area of the country. It is one of the most attractive campsites in the Orbitur network, located in a pine wood, quiet and with excellent infrastructures. It offers good commercial services, which include a bar/restaurant, swimming-pools with slides for all to enjoy, and bungalows fitted with all the comforts needed for a holiday or weekend. The beach, which is protected, is 600 m away. S. Pedro de Moel campsite won the first DCC Europe award in 2004, given in Portugal for the first time by the Deutsch Camping Club.
